UNC Charlotte Leader Joins Council Shaping the Future of Online Learning

Categories:

UNC Charlotte Associate Provost Asher Haines has been appointed to serve on the Council for Chief Online Learning Officers (C-COLO) leadership team as part of UPCEA, the leading association for professional, continuing and online education. In this role, Haines will collaborate with peers from institutions such as Johns Hopkins, Indiana University and the University of Virginia to help shape the future of online learning.

He will serve a two-year term on the C-COLO Leadership Team from 2025 to 2027.

Under Haines’ leadership, the School of Professional Studies — in partnership with the University’s academic colleges — strengthened Charlotte Online and its programs and expanded access for students pursuing education while balancing careers, families and other responsibilities. The collaborative model helped position UNC Charlotte’s online bachelor’s degrees as No. 1 in North Carolina and No. 3 nationally in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Online Bachelor’s Degrees rankings.

“I’m deeply grateful for our talented faculty and staff, whose award-winning collaboration makes Charlotte Online a national leader,” Haines said. “This appointment reflects their hard work and our shared commitment to serving modern learners.”
