Find a Mentor

Mentors help students make connections and prepare for their future career. UNC Charlotte is partnering with Mentor Collective to offer incoming first year students a peer mentor based on interests, area of study, needs, and preferences.

Use the registration link below to sign up, complete a short survey about yourself and your background, and you will be matched with a mentor, a fellow UNC Charlotte student.

Residency Classifications

Residency is determined through the North Carolina Residency Determination Service (RDS). Students need only contact RDS if they are seeking to be designated as a North Carolina resident for tuition purposes, otherwise their status defaults to Non-Resident.

Resident

A person who has established legal residence (domicile) in North Carolina and maintained that legal residence for at least 12 months (365 days) immediately prior to his or her classification as a resident for in-state tuition and state financial aid eligibility purposes.

Non-Resident

A person who has not established legal residence (domicile) in North Carolina, or who has not maintained that legal residence for at least 12 months immediately prior to requesting a residency classification. Non-Residents are not eligible for in-state tuition or for state financial aid.
