Meet Program Director Dr. Tehia Starker Glass

Dr. Tehia Starker Glass

Dr. Tehia Starker Glass (she/her) is a campus and community award-winning Professor of Educational Psychology and Elementary Education in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education at UNC Charlotte. Dr. Glass has held many college and university leadership positions while at UNC Charlotte, focused on faculty development. She created the Dig DEEP (Dialogue. Education. Engagement. Practice.) Faculty Academy for the 2023-2024 academic year, where faculty spent the year building projects around teaching, research, or service. During the 2024-2025 academic year, Dr. Glass was the Interim Assistant Director of the Center for Advancing Faculty Success.

Dr. Glass is a former elementary school teacher who now consults nationally with teachers, schools, districts, and organizations to be more equity oriented. She co-founded and is the co-director of the Self, Systems, and Social Transformation Graduate Certificate Program at UNC Charlotte. Dr. Glass is a TED speaker, and co-author of Teaching for Justice and Belonging- A Journey for Educators and Parents and has contributed to Edweek, CNN, and MSNBC.
