Courses
The Certificate requires 15 credit hours of coursework. All requirements must be completed within five years of studies, starting from the time when the first course for the certificate is taken. Coursework taken for one graduate certificate may not be counted towards a second graduate certificate.
Five (5) graduate level, 16 week, project-based courses (12 credits)
- ITIS 6342: Information Technology Project Management (3)
- ITIS 6362: Information Technology Ethics, Policy, and Security (3)
- ITIS 5166: Network-Based Application Development (3) *
- ITIS 6120: Applied Databases (3) *
- ITIS 6200: Principles of Information Security and Privacy (3)
Note:
- *Requires knowledge of data structures and object-oriented programming in C++, C#, or Java.
- ITIS 5101: Fundamentals of Programming is available to those without a tech background
Admissions
Admissions & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education-recognized institutional accreditor.
- Undergraduate GPA 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- The GPA requirement may be waived if an applicant is currently enrolled and in good standing in a graduate degree program at UNC Charlotte.
- Experience with object-oriented programming in C++, C#, or Java and software development experience preferred. Fundamentals of Programming introduction course is available for those without a technical background.
