Earn Your Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Online

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification program provides in-depth knowledge of three of the most-widely used total quality management and process improvement methodologies in the world today: Lean; Define Measure Analyze Improve Control (DMAIC); and Define Measure Analyze Design Validate (DMADV).

UNC Charlotte’s online course covers intermediate topics on the Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools used in process improvement, new process design and process waste reduction projects. By successfully completing our Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification program, you will gain the project management and data analysis skills needed to lead and manage large-scale improvement projects.

At the conclusion of the online coursework, you must pass an exam by scoring 70% or better. Then you will begin your coached project on your own time. Examples of projects other students have completed include reducing the number of customer complaints about product defects and reducing the cycle time of the customer onboarding process. You can schedule up to 30 minutes per week (for up to 13 weeks) to touch base with your instructor for coaching. Once you successfully complete the coached project, you will earn your Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

UNC Charlotte’s Black Belt Six Sigma certification course was designed by Dr. Jonathan Mayhorn. Dr. Mayhorn teaches all of our Lean Six Sigma belt courses, as well as some of our Project Management Professional certification prep courses. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Project Management Professional and Scrum Master.

Courses

Our Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification program requires about 70 hours. You must successfully complete the Green Belt certification course prior to registering for the Black Belt certification program. If you have earned a Green Belt certification with another provider, you will need to supply us with information about the structure of that course and proof of completion, so we may determine if the course meets our prerequisite requirement.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification »

The course covers advanced topics on the Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools used to improve existing processes, design new processes, or reduce waste from existing processes. Participants will gain the Leadership, Project Coaching, and Data Analysis skills needed to mentor fellow Black Belts and Green Belts through their Lean Six Sigma projects.

Coaching Portion – Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification »

Once your Lean Six Sigma Black Belt coursework is complete, the final step to certification is coaching. During this final portion, you will enter into a one-on-one virtual project coaching environment with your instructor.

Program Cost

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Registration Fee: $2,950.00

Included in the cost of this course is 30 minutes of project coaching each week for up to 13 weeks by a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. You will work independently with your instructor via email for your coaching and you will receive instructions on this once the coursework portion of the course is complete.
