At the conclusion of the online coursework, you must pass an exam by scoring at least 70%. You will then begin the final segment of the program — coaching several of your own projects from end to end, with the guidance and support of your instructor.

UNC Charlotte’s Master Black Belt Six Sigma certification course was designed by Dr. Jonathan Mayhorn. Dr. Mayhorn teaches all of our Lean Six Sigma belt courses, as well as some of our Project Management Professional certification prep courses. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Project Management Professional and Scrum Master.

This course covers advanced topics on the Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools used to improve existing processes, design new processes, or reduce waste from existing processes. Participants will gain the Leadership, Project Coaching, and Data Analysis skills needed to mentor Black Belts and Green Belts through their Lean Six Sigma projects.

Coaching Portion – Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification »

Once your Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt coursework is complete, the final step to certification is coaching. During this final portion, you will enter into a one-on-one virtual project coaching environment with your instructor.

Admissions

UNC Charlotte’s Master Black Belt certification program is about 35 hours in length. You must earn your Black Belt certification prior to registering for the Master Black Belt program. If you have earned your Black Belt through another provider, you will need to supply us with information about the structure of that course, as well as provide us proof of completion so we may determine if the course meets our prerequisite requirement.
